Time Differences from Tokyo

Differences measured from Tokyo. Cities that observe daylight saving time shift with the season, so each page calculates the difference as it stands today.

What Is a World Clock?

A world clock shows the current time in cities around the world side by side. Time varies from place to place, and that gap is called the time difference. It exists because each region keeps time that matches the position of the sun overhead.

Those regional divisions are called timezones. They are all measured against Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), so local time is written as an offset such as UTC+9. Japan Standard Time is UTC+9.

Some regions, mainly in Europe and North America, also move their clocks forward by an hour in summer. This is daylight saving time, and it means the gap to a given city can change with the season.

WorldClock.jp handles those offsets and daylight saving transitions automatically, showing the current time in 213 cities in real time.
